A Travel Photography Journey Around Nevada’s Red Rock Canyon

I have been to Red Rock Canyon so many times – and each time I am struck by just how beautiful it is. On my last trip, it was almost like experiencing two different parks. On one side, there were rolling red rocks against a blue sky filled with the fluffiest clouds. And to the other, a winter storm was rolling in, swallowing the sandstone in its path. As a bonus, I got caught in some light snowfall – over all, a truly magical day.
The stops at the beginning of the Park had these stunning views of the red rock. However, as we drove further around the loop the scenery began changing rather dramatically.

As I neared the middle of the loop, I had to get out and explore a bit more on foot. I did struggle to capture everything through the icy winds – I wasn’t prepared to take photos in the snow. However, I’m happy with how everything turned out. Even with little skill and a basic camera, I lucked out by having an excellent model to photograph. Just look at that vibrant line of red!

And Ice Box Canyon – my absolute favorite spot to grab a few snaps – looked positively radiant in the snow. It’s hard to believe that this photo was taken on the same day in the same park as the first photos on this page.
All in all, it was a beautiful day. And while I wish I had more weather-appropriate gear to better capture what I was seeing, I’m still satisfied with the shots I did get.
