A photo diary of traveling through London on a warm morning

London is one of my favorite places to visit. There’s something so beautiful and serene about the city. Of course, it is still a major city, so it’s not the same peace you’d find out in the countryside, but even still – there is something very special here.

As someone who loves to explore on foot, the first thing that stands out to me is just how easy it is to get-around – everything is so close. And I say this as someone who spends a lot of time in Los Angeles, where it takes much longer travel about.

On my last trip to London, I had some time to grab my camera and explore early in the morning before things became too-crowded (my pro-tip, if you want to get a nice photo outside of Buckingham Palace or Big Ben/Parliament along the River Thames, head out early in the morning when it’s just folks making their commute to work).

I took advantage of the crisp morning air and empty streets to head on over to Westminster. Westminster is filled with so many iconic tourist destinations, but my favorite part is St. James Park. Something straight out of a fairytale, this sprawling urban park is a little paradise in the city with its carefully manicured greenery and well-maintained walkways.

A little bit beyond Westminster is the luxe borough of Kensington and Chelsea. I, of course, stopped in to Harrods for some chocolates before wandering around a bit more. The buildings in this district were absolutely stunning, to be expected, of course, in such a chic and wealthy neighborhood.

By this point in the day, the city had fully-woken and was full of hustle and bustle. I did make a few more stops throughout this trip (including over to Leake Street), but I’ll save those photos and stories for another day.
