TL;DR: Deciding between either tourist destination can be difficult as they are both amazing! Ultimately, it depends on what type of adventure you want. Both Capilano Suspension Bridge Park and Lynn Canyon Park have suspension bridges that offer stunning views. As the more popular tourist destination, Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is a beautifully decorated and easy to navigate tourist destination. However, you will have to buy an admission ticket to enter. Lynn Canyon Park, on the other hand, only requires that you pay for parking and is more of an “off the beaten path” experience (although it is a very well maintained path that is popular with locals) that has an array of trails to check-out. Both are great items to add to your travel itinerary.
British Columbia is known to be a haven for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. However, you don’t have to be all that adventurous to enjoy what the area has to offer.
Just a short drive from downtown, there are two easy-to-get-to parks worth checking out on your next journey to Vancouver – Capilano Suspension Bridge Park and Lynn Canyon.
With only so much time to spare on your travels, you may wonder which one YOU should visit. I’ve had the time to visit both and found two very different but very much enjoyable experiences. Read on for my review of both places and what makes each suspension park unique.

The TL;DR on Capilano Suspension Bridge Park
Address: 3735 Capilano Road, North Vancouver, BC
Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is often considered the suspension bridge to check out – and for good reason. Not only does the park have its namesake suspension bridge, there are also a few other attractions to see. From a beautiful cliff walk to a path among the treetops, Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is a delightful place to spend several hours.

Getting to Capilano Suspension Bridge Park & Parking
With parking lots just across the street from the entrance, it’s pretty easy to navigate your way to the park. It also is a little bit closer to Downtown Vancouver, which could make it the more accessible option overall.
If you don’t have access to a car, public transit is always an option. Vancouver is known for its accessibility and reliability of public transportation. However, the Park also operates a free shuttle, which you can learn more about here.
How Much Does it Cost?
You will have to pay for admission either in advance or at the gate, which is on the pricer side. However, the park does amazing work and is worth every cent in my opinion. I went in the evening and did get a bit of a discount (I believe it was after 5pm, but you can always call the park and double check for your specific trip dates) so that’s something to consider as well. You may also want to spend some money inside the park at one of the various food stalls or the gift shop.
What Makes Capilano Suspension Bridge Park Special
Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is a more contained experience (than Lynn Canyon Park) in that there are plenty of people, several food shops, easy to find restrooms, and various signs explaining the different exhibits.
As a quasi-amusement park (of sorts), everything in the park is very well maintained. During holidays, the Park runs special events and adds beautiful decor. If you are visiting in Fall or Winter, check out Canyon Frights or Canyon Lights.
Just picture yourself in the crisp air underneath a canopy of trees, sipping on hot cocoa you picked up from one of the food shops. That, in my opinion, is just some of the magic of Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. However, as one of the more popular destinations, it can get a bit crowded.
Why I Would Choose Capilano Suspension Bridge Park Over Lynn Canyon
Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is easy to access for the whole family, with well-paved walkways, snacks, and seating options. If I were visiting with kids, looking for a safe/easy way to explore nature, and wanted a variety of activities, Capilano is the clear choice.
The TL;DR on Lynn Canyon Park
Address: 3690 Park Rd, North Vancouver, BC (This address will take you to the Lynn Canyon Cafe, which is right before the suspension bridge).
Also located in North Vancouver, Lynn Canyon Park is over 600 acres in size and is a common hiking place for both tourists and locals alike. To avoid crowds, try visiting during the week.
Getting to Lynn Canyon Park & Parking
Slightly farther than Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, Lynn Canyon Park is a part of the broader Lynn Valley. Lynn Canyon has several different trails and parking lots, so be sure to double check which part of the park you are going to. The best parking lots to access the bridge are near the Ecology Centre and near the Lynn Canyon Cafe.
How Much Does it Cost?
There is a small hourly rate for parking, which can be done via machine or by app. Using the app option makes it convenient to add time if you decide you want to explore some more. However, keep in mind that you most likely will lose reception or internet access while on the trail – meaning you can’t add time while out hiking.
Aside from that, however, it is completely free to hike or visit the small Ecology Centre (you can donate to the centre if you’d like). There also is a small cafe, public restroom, and water refill station near the suspension bridge entrance. Many people, however, recommending skipping the cafe and having a heartier meal elsewhere.
What Makes Lynn Canyon Park Special
Under the canopy of trees and the sound of rushing water, Lynn Canyon is a great way to get immersed in this British Columbia rainforest. In addition to the iconic suspension bridge, there are also many different beautiful trails to explore (both Twin Falls and the 30 Foot Pool are popular routes). And calling them beautiful does feel a bit like an understatement. Lynn Canyon is a peaceful sanctuary to stroll around for a little bit.
Why I Would Choose Lynn Canyon Over Capilano Park
The price and crowds of Capilano Suspension Bridge Park can be a deterrent. If I were hoping for a little more outdoor exploration, hiking, and a cheaper experience, Lynn Canyon stands out. It’s also MUCH easier to get your photos without having the crowd bump into your shot.
Both Capilano and Lynn Canyon Park offer impressive views and marvelous experiences. If you tend to lean on the more adventurous or outdoors-y side, then Lynn Canyon may interest you. However, if you are looking to try out the Cliff Walk and Treetop Adventure or like to see all the main spots when you travel, then you may want to consider Capilano Suspension Bridge Park. Or, if you’re able, you can do what I did and check out both!
